Please donate now as we continue to serve our local Veterans!
Some paid the ultimate sacrifice, and we help their families. Some are still sacrificing, and those we help every day.
Your donations support the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Fund of California

Our Annual Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament supports our local Veterans here in the Central Valley. One Hundred percent of all proceeds are donated to Veterans Support Organizations here in the San Joaquin Valley and support a wide variety of Programs and services. We presented a check of $18,000 to the Fresno VA Medical Hospital in support of numerous Veteran programs, which are not funded by the Federal Government. We have held 12 tournaments in all and donated over $186,000 to the VA and another $32,000 to numerous other Veteran support organizations.

Our Clovis Nighthawks participated in the American Legion Department of California Baseball Championship Tournament, an eight-team, double-elimination tournament held at Chapman University in southern California. The Nighthawks won their first game; however, we had to forfeit this game due to an ineligible player. This setback did not stop our Nighthawks. They went on to win the next 4 games and force a winner-take-all final game with the Petaluma Leghorns. Unfortunately, our Nighthawks were unable to defeat the Leghorns a second time and had to settle for 2nd place. We ended the season with a pretty impressive record of 26-6-2. What is more impressive is that 15 of our 18 players are eligible to play next year.

The American Legion is the world’s oldest and largest veterans organization, made up of men and women who have served in the U.S. military during an official period of conflict. Our Mission is "To enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness."

The Members of American Legion Post 147 held their first election of officers in December of 1919 under a temporary Charter. The members voted to name our Post after Pvt. John Cecil Cox. Pvt. Cox was the first Clovis, California serviceman to be killed during World War I at the Battle Belleau Wood in France. The Clovis post was granted its permanent Charter on March 3, 1921, with 24 Charter Members. Today, the Post has almost 500 members and is actively engaged in supporting our veterans, their families and our community.
