What is Helmets for Heroes
Helmets for Heroes is a fundraising efforts by The California American Legion Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R) Division, which for 80 years has provided critical services for hundreds of thousands of California veterans. Without the American Legion’s expertise, tens of thousands of disabled California Veterans would go without the support they have earned and need. Your donation to the Department of California American Legion Foundation (CALVAR), empowers the VA&R with the ability to continue this vital service to our deserving California veterans.
Helmets for Heroes' Mission
American Legion, Department of California, to fulfill a two part mission.
- To make aware to the general public the challenges our veterans face in trying to get the full benefits they have earned, which often includes medical and psychological treatment/therapy and suicide prevention.
- To seek and collect tax-deductible donations that will be used exclusively to cover the expenses of the Department of California, American Legion’s Veterans Service Officers’ Program (VSO).
